Nordmann Fir Production

Nordmann fir (Abies nordmanniana) production techniques [2006-2007]

I conducted an experiment to compare production techniques of Nordmann fir in 2006 and 2007. Six different growth conditions were examined:

  1. Round #1 plastic container (2.72 L) filled with soilless substrate
  2. Round #1 plastic container (2.72. L) with SpinOut applied to the inside, filled with soilless substate
  3. RootMaker I RMI-1R round pot (2.74 L), 4) filled with soilless substrate
  4. RootMaker FC5 fabric bag (3.00 L) placed in a cinder block above ground, filled with soilless substrate
  5. RootMaker FC5 fabric bag (3.00 L) in-ground filled with field soil
  6. Field-planted in existing soil

Representative root systems for each treatment at the conclusion of the experiment.
